A plush toy resembling a cute, cartoonish fox with large, shiny eyes, sitting on a dark surface with a blurred indoor background.

Why the fox?

Every so often, someone asks me about my logo. I get it. A fox isn’t exactly the most “lawyerly” choice.

But when it came time to brand my practice, I knew I wanted a fox. Foxes make me think of my niece, Makenzie, who was absolutely obsessed with them. The well-loved little guy on the left was her go-to snuggle buddy.

On February 2, 2021, our world stopped spinning. Makenzie passed away from complications of COVID-19. We had her with us for nine years, and we miss her more than words can describe.

Finding the right fox turned out to be its own adventure. My husband, Marc, took it on and searched high and low until he found the one that felt like her. That’s the fox you see here. He knew what it meant to me, and he wasn’t going to let me settle.

On July 29, 2026, after a brutal year-long battle with myelofibrosis, a rare blood cancer most people have never heard of, Marc went to be with Makenzie.

So my logo means more to me now than I can say. Most people see a fox. I see the two of them, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything more lawyerly.
